About Us

The International Boer Goat Association, Inc. is committed to seeing the meat goat industry in general, and the Boer goat breed in particular, established as a respected and profitable component of mainstream North American agriculture. We are motivated by our members and are dedicated to assisting each one - whether a large breeder or small - meet their individual goals of profitability and personal satisfaction through the raising of Boer and Boer-influence goats. Toward this end, we are focused on the betterment of the meat goat industry as a whole through an ever more extensive use of superior Boer goat genetics in the world's meat goat herds.

We offer many opportunities to the producer who is looking toward the future. We have an excellent registry program which includes both fullblood and percentage Boer registrations. There is a comprehensive youth program for the young rancher which includes scholarship opportunities. Our show services include official sanction so that points may be earned toward champion status, informational and educational brochures and, frequently, the attendance by an Association representative. Members receive our official publication, the "Boer Breeder" which includes educational articles on everything from new medications, nutrition, and genetics, to the latest sanctioned show results.

Our goal is to assist our members through educational seminars and videos, pedigree tracking, genetic information, sanctioned shows, Boer goat evaluation clinics and training materials, animal registration and monthly updates on the meat goat industry and its continued growth. We also offer our members a DNA testing service at very reasonable cost through an exclusive agreement with ImmGen, Inc. The Association has Regional Coordinators who are nominated and elected by the members of that region.

These coordinators guide the Association in meeting the promotional and educational needs of local Boer breeders. Regional coordinators schedule "goat evaluation clinics," field days and sanctioned shows within their regions to help educate and promote new breeders and buyers. With education, Boer breeders can select top quality animals, cull their herds effectively and constantly improve their herds. Skilled management practices among individual breeders also contribute significantly to the constant improvement of the Boer breed worldwide.

In order to recognize outstanding animals and to promote the Boer goat to a wider audience, the Association sanctions Boer goat shows throughout the Americas and the Carribean. An excellent slate of highly skilled judges, each of whom has been evaluated and approved by the Association's judges committee, are available for sanctioned and non-sanctioned events.

By establishing strategic alliances with regional and national meat goat associations, with governmental agencies and with other agricultural organizations, the International Boer goat Association, Inc. is working to identify and develop prospective markets worldwide.

Annual elections are held at which the Association's active members elect the Directors who will serve the Association for three-year staggered terms. The International Boer Goat Association, Inc., is a non-profit association and, as such, is owned entirely by its members.

If you would like more information on this exciting organization of dedicated Boer goat producerd, please contact our Registry Office or contact one of our current Directors.
